World ovarian cancer day

Friday, 8 May 2026 is World Ovarian Cancer Day, an important time to raise awareness of low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC).

With LGSOC being more likely to affect younger women, it is especially important to raise awareness to ensure that women of all ages know how important it is to pay attention to new or unusual symptoms and to advocate for their health if their symptoms are overlooked by doctors.

This World Ovarian Cancer Day, the Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Initiative has been generously donated two high-profile billboards. One in Piccadilly Circus, London and one in Times Square, New York.

We are especially grateful to Lydia and Victoria. These incredible women are helping to bring greater visibility to a disease that too often goes unseen featuring on the billboards.

World Ovarian Cancer Day is an important time to highlight the impact of a diagnosis of LGSOC and come together to raise awareness.

This year we are asking you to take part by sharing your experiences, either to raise awareness, or as part of an appeal to encourage donations to an incredible LGSOC researcher. Please see some templates below that you can use to get started.

Appeal

Today is World Ovarian Cancer Day, and I wanted to share something personal.

(share 1-2 sentences about your story, whether it is your experience getting diagnosed, what it’s like going through treatment, a misunderstanding people have about living with cancer, or anything else that you are comfortable sharing)

LGSOC (low-grade serous ovarian cancer) is rare, and that means research is limited, and it’s also why it matters so much.

Research gives me hope for (share something personal here, examples could include more time with my family, better treatment options, a more certain future – but again use your own words, and what feels right to you)

If you’re able to, I’d be so grateful if you could make a donation today in support of LGSOC research. To give me, and future generations of women hope.

Thank you.

Awareness

Today is World Ovarian Cancer Day, and I wanted to share something personal.

I was diagnosed with LGSOC in (year of diagnosis) and it has changed my life.
(share 1-2 sentences about how LGSOC has changed your life, whether it’s due to the surgery, changes to how you live your life today, or how mindset has changed)

Low-grade serous ovarian cancer is rare, but it can have a huge impact, which is why I am raising awareness this World Ovarian Cancer Day.

Thank you for learning about LGSOC this World Ovarian Cancer Day

World Ovarian Cancer Day was started by the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition, we are proud to stand with them and other ovarian cancer organisations on this important day.
